What is Nutritional Therapy (NT)?
Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care. NT practitioners use a wide range of tools to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns. This approach allows them to work with individuals to address nutritional balance and help support the body towards maintaining health. Nutritional therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine and is relevant for individuals with chronic conditions, as well as those looking for support to enhance their health and wellbeing.
Practitioners never recommend NT as a replacement for medical advice and always refer any client with ‘red flag’ signs or symptoms to their medical professional. They will also frequently work alongside a medical professional and will communicate with other healthcare professionals involved in the client’s care to explain any nutritional therapy programme that has been provided.
Wellbeing Coaching is a powerful tool to support change in patterns of behavior and to help the client to understand what is at the root of the habits or beliefs. Coaching may be used along side Nutritional Therapy or as a stand alone practice. Wellbeing Coaching is slightly different to pure coaching in that advice is given when appropriate.
The Nutritional Therapist (NT) & Coach requests that the Client notes the following
-
- The degree of benefit obtainable from Nutritional Therapy or Wellbeing Coaching may vary between clients with similar issues
- Nutritional advice will be tailored to health concerns identified and agreed between both parties.
- Nutritional therapists and Coaches are not permitted to diagnose, or claim to treat, medical conditions.
- Nutritional advice is not a substitute for professional medical advice and/or treatment.
- Food supplements and/or functional testing as part of your programme may be recommended and commission on these products or services may be paid to your NT.
- Standards of professional practice in NT are governed by the CNHC Code Conduct.
The client understands that:
- I am responsible for contacting my GP about any health concerns or medical conditions.
- If I am receiving treatment from my GP, or any other medical provider, I should tell him/her about any nutritional strategy provided by a nutritional therapist. This is necessary because of any possible reaction between medication and the nutritional programme.
- It is important that I tell my nutritional therapist about any medical diagnosis, medication, herbal medicine, or food supplements, I am taking as this may affect the nutritional programme.
- If I am unclear about the agreed nutritional therapy programme/food supplement doses/time period, I should contact my nutritional therapist promptly for clarification.
- I must contact my nutritional therapist and Coach should I wish to continue any specified supplement programme suggested for longer than the original agreed period, to avoid any potential adverse reactions.
- The advice given is specifically appropriate for me and may not be appropriate for others.
- Recording consultations using any form of electronic media is not allowed without the written permission of both me and my Nutritional Therapist or Wellbeing Coach.
- We understand the above and agree that our professional relationship will be based on the content of this document. We declare that all the information we share during this professional relationship is confidential and to the best of our knowledge, true and correct. Please retain a copy of this doc.
Terms and Conditions with regards to sale of services and payments:
Nutritional Therapy with Lucy Harper & Wellbeing Coaching is a complimentary therapy and does not replace medical advice. I, (as the client) am responsible for contacting my GP or any other medical provider should I have health concerns or be receiving medical intervention.
My practitioner cannot be held responsible for any self medicating that was not recommended by them.
Any packages purchased must be used within the agreed terms (ie if a 3-month package has been purchased it must be used within the 3 months following an initial session unless agreed otherwise). Purchased packages are non-refundable and non-transferable except in exceptional circumstances and at the discretion of the practitioner. Should a refund for the remaining sessions of a package be agreed due to exceptional circumstances this will be less an administration fee of £50.
If I am unable to commit to the agreed number of sessions, I may choose to freeze the remaining sessions until such time as I am ready to resume them.
In the unlikely event of practitioner extended illness or incapacity the practitioner will give a full refund for the balance of any remaining sessions paid for in advance.
Tests are charged on top of any package and are payable in full if repeated. Test interpretation will be either included in the charge of the test or may be charged
If an initial session is booked to be carried out via Zoom or other on-line platform payment is required prior to the session unless previously agreed. In the event of an outage, the session will be rescheduled.
Packages that include support between sessions will take place as agreed by both parties. In between session support on a package that does not include either telephone or e-mail support will be charged as an additional service at an hourly rate at the practitioners discretion.
I understand that if I need to re-schedule or cancel an appointment or session with my practitioner, I will inform them giving at least 24 hours’ notice to avoid a possible charge for a missed appointment. Similarly, my practitioner will endeavour to provide me with at least 24 hours’ notice if the appointment or session needs to be re-scheduled.
I understand that my practitioner is qualified in their own specialist field and may suggest or recommend appropriate referrals for testing or treatment with other practitioners to ensure a fully holistic approach for my wellbeing goals. I understand that in some cases it is appropriate for a practitioner to signpost me to work with a different type of intervention and support to ensure I am aware of the most effective pathway for my wellbeing. This would be with prior discussion.
If you (the client) are receiving Trauma Informed Wellbeing Coaching it should be noted that at times this may feel challenging. It may be appropriate for my practitioner to ask permission to be honest and challenge a belief or behaviour that is a barrier to recovery. I agree to inform my practitioner if I am having any difficulties with the sessions, so I get the appropriate support.
