Are you gluten-free? A university research study.

Thank you to all those who responded to the on-line survey as to the reasons for gluten-avoidance in the absence of CD.

The study was part of an MSc research project at Worcester University looking at the reasons behind the growing number of people who avoid gluten.

It was found that in the cohort who took part in this study, the vast majority who avoided gluten did so, rightly or wrongly, for symptomatic reasons and not due to ‘faddish’ reasons.

It was also clear that a lot more professional support is needed in order for people who believe they have a gluten issue to distinguish between NCGS, wheat sensitivity or a FODMAPs issue to achieve symptomatic relief and aim for optimum health.
